Celebrities are often the first ones to bring wellness trends into the public eye, and Isla Fisher is no exception. The Wolf Like Me actress, 48, cited a variety of “therapeutic” practices she tried out on a New Year’s Eve wellness retreat at Buchinger Wilhelmi wellness clinic in Germany.
“This has been the most incredible way to spend the new year,” the actress wrote in an Instagram post on Thursday, January 2. “Therapeutic fasting, integrative medicine, inspiring treatments for the spirit and soul,” she continued.

2024 was likely an emotional year for the actress, who announced her split from Sacha Baron Cohen in April after 13 years of marriage. Her time at the resort, she said, provided her with “every kind of therapy cocooned in warmth & care – the kindest hands. Everything you repress just comes out, all at once. ?”
Some commenters questioned the wellness methods the actress cited. “What is therapeutic fasting?” asked one follower. Another referred to her comment about repressed things coming out, asking, “Is this a nice way of saying that the treatment makes you poop a lot?” In the same vein, another wrote, “Well that’s scary, everything you repress coming out at once ?”

The website for Buchinger Wilhelmi describes therapeutic fasting as a procedure in which a person “goes without food for a certain length of time, living mainly on their fat reserves instead. This stimulates autophagy and detox enzymes, resulting in a deep cleansing of the cells and tissue. […] The success of fasting depends to a large extent on the four-day period at the end of the fast, during which patients at our clinic gradually start to eat normal meals again. During this process, dormant stem cells are activated and new structures built up.” Despite Fisher saying that she spent six days at the resort, the site says, “For Buchinger Wilhelmi therapeutic fasting to take full effect, a stay at our clinic should last at least 10 days.
Some followers commended the Wedding Crashers star’s commitment to self care. “It’s nice to see that you’re caring for yourself and letting your demons out. I’m sure that 2025 will be a great year for everyone. I wish you all the very best! ?????????????,” wrote one such fan.
