Front Row Motorsports has announced a major expansion with the acquisition of a third charter from Stewart-Haas Racing.
This expansion allows them to operate a third full-time entry in the NASCAR Cup Series from 2025. Jerry Freeze, the team’s general manager, mentioned that more details about the new driver lineup, car number, and additional partners will be revealed soon.
The team posted to the announcement to social media, stating:
“FRM has finalized the purchase of our third charter from Stewart-Haas Racing. Announcements on driver, car number and additional partners will be coming soon.”

This comes amid the ongoing antitrust lawsuit that both Front Row Motorsports and 23XI Racing have filed against NASCAR. The lawsuit argues that NASCAR’s regulations and controls over the racing market create a monopoly that excludes competition.

This includes requiring teams to buy parts only from approved suppliers and preventing them from joining other car racing series without NASCAR’s approval.
Front Row Motorsports, along with 23XI Racing, was granted a preliminary injunction allowing them to finalize charter agreements for the upcoming 2025 season. This judicial decision is crucial, as it prevents potential harm like losing driver contracts if they were not recognized as charter teams during the ongoing legal proceedings.
NASCAR, on the other hand, plans to appeal this injunction, claiming that the current system supports competition and is beneficial for sponsors, fans, and broadcasters. While the legal battle continues, NASCAR insists on the fairness of its business model. However, the appeal timeline remains unclear.
Freeze explained how the team is already underway with necessary preparations such as acquiring the required parts, forming a new team, and building on the existing staff force. He commented in May 2024:
“It is good to get the news out now as we have a lot of work to do to prepare a new team.
“All of us on the leadership team will be working through that, obtaining the parts and pieces needed for the new team. And, most importantly, adding to the dedicated and talented staff and culture that exists today within our organization.
“Starting a new team from scratch is always a challenge, but with the opportunities in front of us, the talent we have in our leadership, and a bit of a runway to get there, I am confident that we can produce three competitive programs out of the box for the 2025 season.
“We haven’t lost sight of what our goals for 2024 are, to get our teams into the playoffs for both series. If we can keep up the speed on track and have a little bit of luck to come our way, we can achieve our objectives.”
