Fans Respond To Latest Adam Copeland AEW Name Change

On this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, the wrestler formerly known as both Edge and Adam Copeland debuted under a new name: Cope. While the former two-time AEW TNT Champion might be one of the more beloved wrestlers currently working, it turns out that audiences might not actually be all that big of fans of the new name. This new change might not be going over as well, based on initial social media reactions. For example, Twitter/X user @abbipaperbag posted “adam copeland probably thinks the name “cope” is the coolest thing ever. he doesn’t have internet?” adam copeland probably thinks the name “cope” is the coolest thing ever. he doesn’t have internet? — abbi (@abbipaperbag) January 2, 2025 Similary, @crpycrsaf_ posted, “Adam Copleland has had 3 of the worst pro wrestling names ever. While a number of AEW fans might not be a huge fan of “Cope,” it should be acknowledged that an equally large contingent seem to be reacting pretty casually to it. For example, @JimValley posted, “My guess is that everyone calls Adam Copeland “Cope” in real life. The issue is that fans aren’t around to know this. It doesn’t matter. A rose by any other name and all that. I think the issue is that it should have been transitioned over a month or two instead of abruptly.” My guess is that everyone calls Adam Copeland “Cope” in real life.
