Game maker Atari is announcing a new handheld console called the Gamestation Go at CES 2025. Technically it’s not a new console, as the Gamestation Portable, the console’s original version, was originally shown off at CES last year before being shelved.
The updated handheld features a similar design but includes interesting new changes, mainly with a number pad on the right side and a trackball below the d-pad on the left. There’s also no analog stick, as that is replaced by a dial on the left.

As shown in the teaser video, the Gamestation Go also includes traditional bumpers and triggers, a “Credit” button below the “Settings” button, two USB-C ports, a microSD card slot, a headphone jack, and an HDMI output port.
Atari is partnering with My Arcade, a retro-gaming-focused hardware manufacturer, to make the device. The partnership makes sense as both companies have worked together in the past, with the most recent example being the Gamestation Pro, a mini console with over 200 built-in games.

The original Gamestation Portable was supposed to retail for $149 USD, but don’t expect the updated model to be priced similarly given the new hardware additions. The Atari Gamestation Pro cost $99.99 USD at launch in 2017. Given the recent boom of the handheld market, expect the new console to cost more.
It’s interesting to see Atari get back in the handheld zone in a year that will see Nintendo launch its Switch successor. Sony is also developing a handheld PlayStation console, and Microsoft had publicly announced plans to create an Xbox handheld.
Atari will reveal more details about the Gamestation Go at CES 2025, which kicks off on Sunday, January 5, 2025.
