Cat Desperately Trying To Escape Bath Time Leaves Internet in Stitches

Most cats hate water, but one in particular went viral for his hilarious reaction when his owner put him in the shower, and internet users can’t stop laughing. Shared on TikTok in November, under the username @sarahguz20, a hilarious video shows the cat owner from Arizona, Sarah Guzman, placing the tabby in the bathtub before slathering soap on his fur and scrubbing him clean. “For all my cat parents that dread bath time,” reads the caption, while the tabby tries everything he can to escape, dramatically climbing on the walls and meowing loudly, as if fighting for his life. Newsweek reached out to @sarahguz20 for comment via TikTok comments. We could not verify the details of the case. @sarahguz20 For all my cat parents that dread bath time?#catsoftiktok #fyp ? original sound – Sarah Guzman Nobody really knows why cats hate water so much; however, experts seem to think that it’s in their genes. In fact, their ancestors, the wildcats, rarely had access to water in their natural habitat, which means they had very little exposure to it. Most cats are taught to be able to swim, and one particular breed, the Turkish van, has also been named the “swimming cat,” according to Vet Street. However, most felines will still try to avoid water as much as they can, Thankfully, cats don’t really need baths that often or at all. The U.K. charity Cats Protection says that felines are great at keeping themselves clean, except for those who may need help with grooming by brushing them, especially if long-haired. Bathing a cat can strip their coat of essential oils and might also risk removing any anti-flea products. Cats who can’t groom themselves properly, like senior, arthritic and overweight ones, may need your help keeping themselves clean. Any changes in your feline’s grooming habit should be assessed by your veterinarian. A stock image shows a feline screaming in the bathtub.
