Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene slammed “wide open borders” after a car drove into a crowd in New Orleans on Wednesday.
“Terrorist attack in NOLA similar to the one in the German Christmas market,” Greene said on X, formerly Twitter. “What did we expect would happen with wide open borders and millions of gotaways? The problem is no one trust [sic] the FBI under the current leadership, so everyone is questioning every detail they can find in their own.”
Officials have not released much information on the suspect, aside from confirming he is a male.
Why It Matters
At least 10 people were killed and 35 were injured after the suspect allegedly drove a pickup truck into the crowd at a New Year’s celebration on Canal and Bourbon Streets at around 3:15 a.m.
Last month, a man drove a car into a Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany, killing five people and injuring hundreds.

What To Know
Police said the suspect opened fire at officers after the vehicle came to a stop. He was struck after police returned fire and subsequently pronounced dead.
New Orleans Police Department Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick called the attack “intentional.”
“Last night we had over 300 officers out here. And because of the intentional mindset of this perpetrator who went around our barricades in order to conduct this, he was hell-bent on creating the carnage and the damage that he did,” Kirkpatrick said.
The FBI said it is investigating the incident as an act of terrorism. The agency said it also found improvised explosive devices in the area.
What People Are Saying
Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry, on X: “A horrific act of violence took place on Bourbon Street earlier this morning. Please join Sharon and I in praying for all the victims and first responders on scene. I urge all near the scene to avoid the area.”
Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy, on X: “The terrorists win if we allow them to strike terror into our hearts. Now is a time for us to come together and stand with those who are grieving.”
What Happens Next
The public is being asked to avoid Bourbon Street north from Canal to Dumaine Streets and also east to Royal Street and west to Dauphine Street until further notice.
The FBI will lead the investigation. Anyone with information that can assist is asked to contact the FBI’s New Orleans Bureau by calling (504) 816-3000 or by emailing tips@fbi.gov.
