Black Cat’s Favorite Hobby Goes Viral: ‘This Is the Dream’

A cat owner from Canada revealed her pet’s unusual hobby in a viral TikTok video and internet users can’t cope with it. The clip shared in December by @itstheskibidikitty, shows the black cat sitting inside a cart while grocery shopping with his owner, checking out the isles as she drags him around. “POV [Point of view]: your cat”s [favorite hobby] is going shopping and riding cart,” reads layover text in the clip. The kitty in the clip is wearing an orange jacket and a leash and harness, as he often does while strolling around Vancouver with his owner. Most cats will probably refuse to let you take them out in public for a walk, however, if your cat seems keen, they can be harnessed trained, just like dogs. The first thing to do is finding out the right type of harness and fitting it properly, so that they are comfortable and don’t feel constrained. Dr. Christian Broadhurst, senior veterinarian at nonprofit clinic Clay Humane in Orange Park, Florida, previously told Newsweek that a harness should fit snugly enough that your cat can’t easily abscond but not so tight that it cuts into the tissue. @itstheskibidikitty #fyp #trendingvideo #memestiktok #shorts #foryoupage???? #funny #cat #fyp??viral?tiktok #cute #catlovers #trendingvideo #cat #fyp ? original sound – itstheskibidikitty There are three main types of harness. The H-shape is the most minimal option that gives them freedom to move, however, it’s also the easiest to slip out of. At the opposite end is the walking jacket, probably the safest option to prevent escapes, though it can be a bit bulky. Finally, in between, is the vest harness which is just as safe as a jacket but has less fabric, giving your cat more freedom of movement. You might have to try different kinds of harness to find the right one for your cat, Broadhurst said. “I wish there was a one size fits all but, unfortunately for cats, that’s never the case.” The way you introduce the harness to your cat will also be a determining factor in whether they’ll allow you to use it. You should first let them sniff it and create a positive association by pairing it with a snack. You can then safely place it onto them and reward them again, allowing them to spend time wearing it around the house to familiarize with it. You should only take the cat outside once they are comfortable with the leash. Your cat should always be supervised while wearing a leash and harness, as it only takes seconds for them to get tangled in something, and get hurt.
