Although Alabama’s three losses kept them out of the College Football Playoff, this squad will be ready for today’s matchup against Michigan. At the heart of the Tide’s success is QB Jalen Milroe, a dual-threat on the ground and in the air. Milroe threw for 2,562 yards and 15 touchdowns this season, completing nearly 66% of his passes. But he’s just as dangerous on the ground, racking up 719 rushing yards and 20 rushing touchdowns. Alabama has won five of its last seven bowl appearances, and you can bet they’re itching to avenge last season’s Rose Bowl loss to Michigan. Michigan is riding high after a gritty 13-10 win over then-No. 2 Ohio State in Columbus. Entering the game as massive 19.5-point underdogs, the Wolverines stunned their arch-rivals for the fourth straight year, finishing their season on a high note. The Wolverines’ success this season was fueled by a punishing run game, spearheaded by RB Kalel Mullings, who finished sixth in the Big Ten with 948 rushing yards. Mullings and backfield buddy Donovan Edwards have opted out to prep for the NFL Draft, leaving Michigan to find creative solutions on offense. Key players like DL Mason Graham, CB Will Johnson, and TE Colston Loveland are also sitting this one out. Last year, Michigan ended a six-bowl losing streak by defeating Alabama 27-20 in an epic Rose Bowl overtime battle, followed by a dominant victory over Washington to claim the national championship. Can they summon that same magic without some of their stars? Tune into the ReliaQuest Bowl on New Year’s Eve and catch all the college football action.
