On Sunday, December 29, Emma, 46, took to Instagram to post a tribute to the 69-year-old in honor of the couple’s 17th wedding anniversary. The Die Hard actor is battling frontotemporal dementia (FTD), which can cause the lobes in the brain to shrink, affecting behavior, language, and more, according to Mayo Clinic. Emma posted a throwback photo of her and the Golden Globe Award winner smiling in the ocean together in front of a sunset. She tagged the location as Parrot Cay, Turks And Caicos Islands, the destination where the couple tied the knot in 2009. Anniversaries used to bring excitement — now, if I’m honest, they stir up all the feelings, leaving a heaviness in my heart and a pit in my stomach,” she confessed. “I give myself 30 minutes to sit in the ‘why him, why us,’ to feel the anger and grief.” Despite the hardships of the Pulp Fiction actor’s illness, Emma explained she is grateful for his love. “Then I shake it off and return to what is. And what is… is unconditional love. I feel blessed to know it, and it’s because of him. I’d do it all over again and again in a heartbeat ?,” she wrote.
