A cat has left the internet in hysterics after getting sand all over his owner’s house and showing absolutely zero remorse for his antics.
A video has gone viral on TikTok showing the moment a cat owner walked into her home to be greeted by her mischievous orange feline, who was busy rolling around in the sand. The hilarious clip, shared on the cat’s dedicated social media account (@winnieandgus on TikTok), shows the sand all over the wooden floor, with telltale paw prints throughout.
If the ensuing cleanup operation wasn’t going to be difficult enough, the cat’s clear lack of regret and contrition made matters even worse. Indeed, upon being found out, the cat merely decided to roll around in the sand even more and spread it over the floor.
Although the owner wasn’t exactly pleased, the video has delighted social media users since it was shared on December 19. At the time of writing, it had amassed more than 4 million views and 478,400 likes on TikTok.

After the footage went viral, many TikTok users lauded the cat’s unexpected antics, while some questioned where the sand came from to begin with. In a response to one of the comments, the owner of @winnieandgus explained that she bought the sand for her bearded dragon’s tank and was yet to clean it out. Needless to say, the cat’s mischief prevented that from happening.
It wasn’t an ideal situation, but at the very least, it taught the cat’s owner a valuable lesson not to leave the feline unattended with bags of sand. Indeed, according to the website PetMD, rolling around in sand can actually feel quite nice for cats as it can be rather soothing.
Our modern-day house cats are descended from ancestors who lived in the desert, so enjoying the texture of sand may be a way to reconnect with their roots. PetMD highlights that many cats still love a good dust bath to this day.

This might not have been the warm welcome the cat’s owner was hoping for, but the chaos caused by the cat has left social media users in stitches. In just a matter of days, the video has generated over 13,100 comments, as many people admired the cat’s handiwork.
One comment reads: “He’s so proud!!”
Another TikTok user wrote: “The little paw swirlies all over the place.”
“Normal orange cat behavior,” joked one person.
While another commenter added: “How could you possibly be mad at that face, right? He’s adorable.”
