Woman Gets German Shepherd, Then Discovers List of Things She Can’t Do

A dog owner from Alabama shared a list of things she can no longer do since she got a German shepherd and users across the internet found her experiences relatable. The viral list, shared on TikTok in October under the username @bear_jessica02, includes things like: “Have nice things, eat snacks without having to share, shower alone, leave any food unattended, have personal space of any kind, get ready by myself in the morning, have any sort of privacy, weed eat, have the bed to myself, steam mop.” “And we wouldn’t have it any other way,” says the caption. The poster, Jessica Simmons from Alabama, told Newsweek her dog, Bear, is a two-year-old long coat German shepherd who loves swimming, car rides and squeaky balls, and that he is the sweetest pup. They are not only very athletic, but also easy to train, which makes them a great choice as working dogs. A Dogster article medically reviewed by Dr. Lorna Whittemore says that these pups are also very eager to learn, but because they’re so energetic, they require daily enrichment to stay focused and engaged. Georgia-based veterinarian Dr Jess Kirk says on Vet Explains Pets that this breed needs at least one to two ours of physical exercise each day. That can include walks, runs, playtime and training sessions to keep their minds engaged, which can be split throughout the day. Exercise is essential to prevent obesity, joint problems and behavioral issues, although too much exercise can pose the risk of injury. If you notice your pup showing signs of fatigue or discomfort consult a veterinarian, and adjust their exercise routine accordingly. @bear_jessica02 And we wouldn’t have it any other way #germanshepherd ?
