Warner Bros. The Claim The trailer’s highly polished visuals, dramatic sound design and compelling narrative have led some to believe it’s a legitimate production from Warner Bros. “The Wizarding World is about to expand once again with the thrilling announcement of Harry Potter: The Return of the Dark Lord. This highly anticipated sequel reunites the original cast in an all-new adventure set years after the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Fans will see Harry, Hermione, and Ron return to face an unprecedented magical threat in their later years,” part of the description reads. It also states that the film is set 25 years after Voldemort has been defeated, picking up with Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) now serving as the Head Auror at the Ministry of Magic. Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) is the Minister for Magic and Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) manages Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes. According to the description, the trailer integrates various techniques, including special effects, sound design, AI technologies and movie analytics, to deliver a professional-quality product. The clips of Radcliffe, Watson and Grint talking to each other have been taken from Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts. This was a television reunion special for the cast and crew of the Harry Potter film series released on January 1, 2022. Other visual depictions, such as of the children and the mythical creatures, have been created by AI. People have taken to the comments to express how frustrated they are with the video, with many initially thinking it was real. “have no problem with people making concept trailers, but you need to disclose that in the title of the video. When it isnt in the title, you get a dislike and a ‘don’t recommend channel again,'” one person wrote in the video comment section. “Man I always fall for it,” said another. “Another hope, died as it lived,” someone else wrote. A fourth added: “Why yall do us like that?!!! Just getting our hopes up!!” While another movie in the franchise isn’t currently in the works, HBO’s Harry Potter TV series is, with the next Harry, Ron and Hermione soon to be cast. The series, which HBO plans to run for the next decade across multiple streaming seasons, is separate from the film adaptations, which means every actor is being recast, from Hagrid to Voldemort. The Ruling Misleading Material. The Harry Potter: Return of the Dark Lord trailer is a fan-made creation and not an official movie teaser. While it highlights the immense creativity and passion of KH Studio, viewers should not mistake it for an authentic continuation of the Harry Potter saga. While KH Studio might not have tried to convince people the trailer is real, this isn’t to say that some won’t believe it is an official trailer. This is what has resulted in the misleading material rating. Warner Bros. owns the rights to the Harry Potter series, and any official announcement of new projects would come through verified channels. Fans should always check official sources for accurate information about upcoming projects. FACT CHECK BY Billie Schwab Dunn
